Del Sol Opens its First Store on board a Cruise Ship!
Del Sol opened its first store, with dedicated staff, on board Norwegian Cruise Line's Sky ship. It did remarkably well in its first weekend with only a half-chartered ship of 900 passengers. It normally charters 2,200 passengers.
The Sky cruise ship typically does a three-day route, followed by a four-day itinerary each week. The four-day route has potential to do more in sales as well. The sales potential for this little 200-square-foot store is upwards of a quarter-million dollars annually.
The Gift Shop Manager, the PLs and the staff were fantastic to work with - everyone likes the store and is supportive of the chosen space. They feel it adds some unique value to their retail program on board the ship. Store Supervisor, Nemo from Bulgaria, loves Del Sol. He understands and knows how to sell our product, which is something difficult to get in a large gift shop with 10 employees.
Special thanks go to Justin Moore and Landon John (Del Sol Cruise Sector Sales Directors), who spearheaded this project, coordinating staff training in Nassau, merchandising, contracts, graphics, media, and promotions for the store's grand unveiling on the ship.
