Intern Spotlight... Brian Lynch

Brian Lynch Word-of-mouth speaks volumes about this intern turned General Manager. Former intern and cousin, Beth Styles, put the internship idea in Brian's head, and it's taken him to Del Sol locations all over the world. Attending Del Sol's internship orientation, which gives potential interns a preview into internship life, Brian knew it was something he had to do. Once I found out more about the company during my interview, I almost couldn't believe there was a company that was so fun, remembers Brian. When I arrived in St. Thomas and saw the stores and met the staff, I knew I had made a good choice in joining the Del Sol team. For Brian, his journey took him outside of Utah for the very first time, and it opened his eyes to other cultures and relationships that will last a lifetime. And, unbeknownst to him, his journey and plans for future employment and opportunity were only just beginning.

Outside the Store Del Sol was in the process of evolving into two more sister brands, Cariloha and Sol Kids, which would be housed under its newly formed parent company, Pedersen Worldwide. Brian was invited to be one of the first managers of the newly opened Cariloha store in Jamaica. He was thrilled to be a part of creating an entirely new brand. He also helped open two, new Del Sol stores and experienced immediate success for both of them. I knew that opening a Cariloha store would be a major challenge because there wouldn't be any brand recognition at first, Brian said. After we launched some effective promotions for Cariloha, we saw incredible increases in customer interest; and as a result, a major increase in sales. Just being a part of this effort has taught me so much about effective marketing being the difference between a new business succeeding or failing.

On the Beach All the experience and knowledge he has gained while working for Del Sol will benefit him in all his future ventures. Some of which have come sooner than imagined, as he's been promoted as Pedersen Worldwide's General Manager over the entire St. Thomas operation. His knowledge of international business operations will continue to expand and grow in this new role. I believe that the most valuable skill I have developed is how to network in new places, Brian said. If you surround yourself with positive relationships and people, then any situation that arises can be resolved. We appreciate Brian's ongoing commitment to excellence and look forward to a bright future ahead.
