David B. Pedersen Foundation Awards 18 Scholarships

This past month, the David B. Pedersen Foundation awarded 18 students from Salt Lake City, Utah's East High School with a $1,000 scholarship. The David B. Pedersen Foundation began nearly five years ago, and it has since awarded over $50,000 in scholarships. Former Del Sol CEO, Bob Pedersen, and his wife, Catherine, including Del Sol President & CEO, Jeff Pedersen, and his seven other siblings, created and organized this foundation in honor of their youngest son and brother, David, who passed away in September 2005. The foundation awards scholarships to outstanding students who have "bounced back" from life's obstacles and shown resilience and achievement in scholastics and being drug free.

The David B. Pedersen Foundation works closely with Salt Lake County's Granite Education Foundation and several other amazing teachers throughout Utah, including Taylorsville High teacher, Leigh VandenAkker, who spearheads an incredible growth and learning program, called Techniques for Tough Times, from which several applying students are selected for scholarships. Thanks to each of you from the Del Sol and Cariloha family for your ongoing support and contribution to this wonderful foundation. You have made a big difference!
